Alcohol perfumes are the most common perfumes. It is mainly compose of aroma chemicals, absolutes, and resins that are only dissolve with ethanol. This perfume can be called as the standard fragrance. It has a cooling sensation that adds to sensory experience once the alcohol evaporated from the skin. It is also very hygienic to apply and it gives a very refreshing feeling. However, there are also some disadvantages in spraying this kind of perfume. Due to its main content of alcohol, it is flammable. In addition, alcohol perfumes have very strong scent and give a blast of fragrance that can make cause dizziness and headaches. It also has effects of skin’s dryness and it fragrance doesn’t last long. Nevertheless, alcohol perfumes are the most flexible when it comes to packaging. It can be put in any atomizer bottle.

For the reason that oil perfume users want something different so makers can use their creativity for new artisan perfumes. Some perfumes brands are making a niche such as Kai and Night Queen.
Lastly, solid perfume or most commonly known as perfume balm is a very rare perfume. This cool product is one of the oldest forms of perfume aside from incense. Before, waxes and fats were the only solvents used. Barks and flowers were soaked and heated in fat that produced aromatic oils. Ancient artworks showed that people before perfumed their body by the cone above their head. In addition, packaging of solid perfumes can be very innovative. Because it doesn’t spill, it can be placed into little tins and lipstick containers which are ideal for hand carry.
There are very limited companies that still make solid perfumes. It’s composed of soft butter and waxes similar to lip balm. The balm based must be heated first before adding aromatic ingredients. It should be processed with minimal heat so that delicate ingredients will not easily evaporate.
The most important thing to consider in making perfumes is by using the correct bases to bring out the fragrance. Perfumer’s alcohol or pure ethanol for alcohol perfumes. Jojoba oil for oil perfumes. It gives long shelf-life and stability. Any soft or semi-soft mixture of oils and fats can be used for solid perfumes. It can be lip balm base or soft butter such as mango butter.
